I sell a new product called HybridBackpack that allows the rider to take their existing backpack, laptop bags or shoulder bag. Even better is the fact that it carries other items like a case of beer, pet carrier, rubbermaid tub and more. It also acts as rear fender and has a triangular reflector in the back.

Check it out on my website, www.hybridbackpack.com
Those who I have sent it to review keep saying that it's just an engineered bungee cords.
Just a note: Bungee cords works best when it's stretched to it's maximum length. It has a tendency to slip and does not come with reflectors.

My item is unique and there's nothing like it out there in the market.

The beauty of it is that you as a rider will be able to take your existing bags or items off your back.
Thus reducing the strain on your back and reduce sweating.

my motto
"you have it, take it off your back and take it with you"

I commute with this <a href="http://www.codidirect.com/laptop-bags-laptop-cases/laptop-backpacks/sport-pak.html" rel="nofollow"> computer backpack </a>. However, my bike ride is only 1.5 miles to a train and then I walk 4 blocks. I am comfortable for the 30 min it is on my back but am not sure how it would feel on a century ride. One positive is that CODi makes their bags with ballistic nylon.

I bought a Deuter after returning a super large Ogio. The Deuter backpacks have an awkward shape (because of that plastic support piece inside), but my MacBook still fits.
If you want comfortable, though, the only thing that meets that criterion is a pannier. A backpack will only bring you sooner to back pain, especially if you ride hunched over on a road bike.

I just got an Arkel Bug. http://www.arkel-od.com/panniers/backpack/overview.asp?fl=&site=
It is a pannier that turns into a backpack. You can get a laptop case for it, or just get a sleeve. The only annoying thing so far is that the hook kinda pokes you in the back. You can move it, but makes the bag slightly less convenient. I definitely like the pannier approach since I don't arrive somewhere with a sweaty back. If you go the pannier route, make sure your foot has enough clearance....hitting your foot every revolution gets old really quick.

Have you checked out Mission Vandal Bags?

http://www.missionworkshop.com/vandal-cargo-pack.php

It felt pretty comfortable to me when I tried it on. But I have not given it a 15 mile test ride, so I do not know. It is expandable and will carry as much as you need, yet be mostly compact when you are carrying just a little.

You may want to consider panniers as well. This would give you function and comfort, although it is not what you were asking for.

AMERICA’S NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY!

It’s official. America and the World are now in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. A World EPIDEMIC with potential catastrophic consequences for ALL of the American people. The first PANDEMIC in 41 years. And WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES will have to face this PANDEMIC with the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed World.

STAND READY AMERICA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF YOUR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

We spend over twice as much of our GDP on healthcare as any other country in the World. And Individual American spend about ten times as much out of pocket on healthcare as any other people in the World. All because of GREED! And the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare system in America.

And while all this is going on, some members of congress seem mostly concern about how to protect the corporate PROFITS! of our GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT NATIONAL DISGRACE. A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT DISGRACE that is in fact, totally valueless to the public health. And a detriment to national security, public safety, and the public health.

Progressive democrats and others should stand firm in their demand for a robust public option for all Americans, with all of the minimum requirements progressive democrats demanded. If congress can not pass a robust public option with at least 51 votes and all robust minimum requirements, congress should immediately move to scrap healthcare reform and demand that President Obama declare a state of NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY! Seizing and replacing all PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance plans with the immediate implementation of National Healthcare for all Americans under the provisions of HR676 (A Single-payer National Healthcare Plan For All).

Coverage can begin immediately through our current medicare system. With immediate expansion through recruitment of displaced workers from the canceled private sector insurance industry. Funding can also begin immediately by substitution of payroll deductions for private insurance plans with payroll deductions for the national healthcare plan. This is what the vast majority of the American people want. And this is what all objective experts unanimously agree would be the best, and most cost effective for the American people and our economy.

In Mexico on average people who received medical care for A-H1N1 (Swine Flu) with in 3 days survived. People who did not receive medical care until 7 days or more died. This has been the same results in the US. But 50 million Americans don’t even have any healthcare coverage. And at least 200 million of you with insurance could not get in to see your private insurance plans doctors in 2 or 3 days, even if your life depended on it. WHICH IT DOES!

Contact congress and your representatives NOW! AND SPREAD THE WORD!

God Bless You

We made this for yesterday's easter dinner verses traditional fare like a ham. It turned out really great! We're not used to brown rice so we added an additional cup of water and cooked longer to make it softer.

Was the spending referendum a local measure? That may explain the different rules for passing. Not that it would make any more sense.

California may be a progressive state, but its also a big state with many different and competing ideologies. You will probably find that people who are progressive in some areas are conservative in others. Marriage, for some, is an especially sticky issue.
