Staggering Philonoist

| February 27, 2006 4:04 pm

PartyLet me start right away by saying I like wearing skirts. Ok, maybe not really skirts but kilts. They are comfortable, easy to put on and off, and there are at least ten more reasons for wearing them. Well, I guess being nice to people payed off, because TK bought it for my birthday.

I turned 30 last Sunday, so I had a party for bunch of friends of mine. Several people from Boston were supposed to show up, but the weather did not cooperate. That was shame, but the party must go on. The invitation to the party mentioned a strange piece of clothing. For me, that was the kilt that I just got. CM was wearing some cute slippers with personality, MM and SJ rented funny suits that made them look like Dick Tracy or something. LF was wearing a vampire cape and BK was wearing the traffic worker vest. Last, but not least, FB was wearing a suit that his sister got him from Dubai. There we several other people, but they forgot to wear strange clothing.

So, I am 30 years old. But let’s focus on the great February 12th. What happened on February 12th? It was a Lincoln’s birthday, women gained the right to vote in Utah, NAACP was founded, and of course Clinton was acquitted. It is also Darwin Day, since he was born that day, marriage day acording to Vatican, and of course National Freedom to Marry Day. I guess my birth day is pretty important day throughout the history.

Birthday PartyOk, back to the kilt, here are my reasons to wear kilt:

  1. Women have dominated the whole skirt thing for way too long
  2. It is cool (literally and figuratively)
  3. It is practical
  4. You can wear cute underwear and actually have somebody look at them
  5. You can shock anybody you want
  6. And so on…

PartySo, my birthday resolution, continue to be myself, learn as much as I can about pretty much anything, and continue my life as a philonoist. And of course have as much fun as possible.

Evening Saunter

| January 29, 2006 5:08 am

Last weekend MM and I went to the birthday party of SP in Cambridge. Beside the fact that we were actually the first one driving from Clifton Park (about three hours) and that we all got way too drunk, it was a great evening of fun. The food was great, drinks were, well, drinks, and the crowd was just what you would expect.

The next day DJ was touring the Cambridge to us and somewhere on the way we stopped in this place to buy tickets for The Walkman. Turns out I knew this band from before and I like it a lot. DJ also told me about some other bands. And here is the funny anecdote. So, I was listening to Kaiser Chiefs and their song Oh My God, which is by the way awesome. As I stop on the gym’s parking lot and go in, the song that is playing is the same Oh My God. Coincidence?

Anyway, here are the lyrics to We’ve been had, which is an amazing song from The Walkman

Well I’m a modern guy I don’t care much for the go-go
or the retro image I see so often telling me to
keep trying maybe you’ll get here someday
keep up the working, ok
I close the book on them right thereI see myself change as the days change over
I hear the songs and the words don’t change
I write them out of the book right thereWe’ve been had, you say it’s over
Sometimes I’m just happy I’m older
We’ve been had I know it’s over
Somehow it got easy to laugh out loudSee me age 19 with some dumb haircut from
1960 moving to New York City
live with my friends there we’re all taking the same steps
they’re foolish now

We’ve been had you say it’s over
Sometimes I’m just happy I’m older
We’ve been had I know it’s over
Somehow it got easy to laugh out loud

Now, if you like this one, you may like Kaiser Chiefs too. So, while I am sauntering around, thinking about my friends, I wish you all best.

Hilarity In The New Year

| December 31, 2005 11:18 pm

Ok, since everybody and their dog has to have a Happy New Year thing on their web site, I guess I have to have one on mine too. So, here we go:

Happy New Year 2006!!

Oh, what abot a story?

Turns out the parties are always happening either all at once or none at all. I could be: having fun with some guys in NYC, drink and be marry with a bunch of people with children at colleague’s place, or have fun with a really cool couple we met in 2005. We decided to do the last. The funny part is that last Saturday it was almost impossible to find anybody to come over. Well, that is life.

Good old Santa was dressed into a bunch of annoying cats this year and he brought us Canon 20d, couple of lenses, Roku M1000, and some other neat things to make our life more complete. I had to play with the macro lens and the result can be seen on the picture.

Well, this is getting boring, so, Happy New Year 2006. Oh, and don’t do too much hilarity around the punch, especially if it has some special ingredients.
